Mobile Solutions - Part 5: Custom Specialty Trailers
4/26/2007 | Denene Haynie

Welcome back to this article series on mobile cleaning solutions. We apologize for the delay in posting this article online, we had a website related issue and our web developer was out of the office for 2 weeks.

This is the 5th and final article for the series and this time I will again feature some custom trailer units we have developed over the last few years. Previously I showed you two trailers built for military customers, and then we looked at three systems engineered for use by municipal clients. In this article I have selected another set of very specialized trailers that I feel really showcases our engineering and fabrication abilities when it comes to meeting the needs of mobile cleaning operations.

Like the units featured previously, these trailers are in use all over the country and include a great mix of designs and features.

AIR-GAP FILL TRAILER

Though essentially a standard tandem trailer, this unit features some great options including an Air-Gap Fill system. This system greatly reduces the time needed to fill the water tank, plus acts as a backflow preventer. This guarantees that soap or other cleaning chemicals will not siphon back into the water source, and ensures that local water regulations are being met.

We have built over 25 of these trailers for Rocky Mountain Cleaning in Yuma, Colorado. They are primarily used for cleaning decks and the exterior of homes all over the United States.
  • Deck Size: 48" x 111"
  • Overall Size: 70" x 170"
  • 2" x 3" tubular 11 gauge frame with 3" x 3" x 3/16" center beam
  • Tandem 16 gauge teardrop fenders
  • Tandem 3500# drop axles with electric brakes
  • Rechargeable breakaway system
  • 5000# coupler with 2" ball receiver
  • 1000# swing-up swivel jack with wheel
  • Safety chains with hooks
  • Chrome wheels with 205/75/r15 tires
  • 330-gallon water tank in cage
  • Air-Gap fill system with ladder rack
  • 2 hose reels
  • 200 feet of blue non-marking high-pressure hose
  • Chemical rack
  • Nozzle holder with extra set of spray tips
  • 12-volt electrical system - taillights, running lights, and license plate
  • Powder coated for durable finish

VACUUM TRAILER

This is a unique tandem trailer designed to hold a vacuum system for recovery of wastewater after high pressure cleaning. It has two 230-gallon water tanks plumbed together, and carries a vacuum system at the rear of the trailer. The vacuum system includes a high-powered vacuum, vacuum hose and hose reel, and a recovery tank for wastewater. The trailer has skid wheels under the rear frame to prevent the frame from bottoming out on a low driveway.

The vacuum trailer brings a full-circle cleaning solution into the field and ensures that regulations governing the capture and disposal of waste wash water are being met.

SEALMAXX TRAILER

Here it is -- the largest and most complex trailer we have engineered to date! This huge tandem trailer is designed as a multi-purpose cleaning and sealing system. Primarily used for sealing decks and concrete, it can carry a wide variety of chemicals including detergents, sealants, and even lawn care products. There are 6 total tanks mounted on this trailer as well as 6 hose reels, with extensive plumbing to all the various chemical and water tanks.

The trailer features an anti-freeze system, numerous storage compartments, and heavy-duty construction. We have built over 50 of these trailers, which are in use throughout the United States.
  • Deck Size: 54" wide in front, 74 1/4" wide in rear, 155" long
  • Overall Size: 79 1/2" x 230"
  • 2" x 4" x 1/4" tubular steel frame with 3" x 4" x 1/4" center beam
  • Tandem 16 gauge teardrop fenders
  • Tandem 6000# straight axles with electric brakes
  • Rechargeable breakaway system
  • 12,000# HammerBlow coupler with 2 5/16" ball receiver, 6-hole adjustable bracket
  • 10,000# stabilizer jack with sand foot
  • Safety chains with hooks
  • Chrome wheels with 225/75/r15 tires and spare
  • 330-gallon water tank in cage
  • 1 hose reel for high-pressure wash
  • 1 hose reel for inlet water with auto fill
  • 2 100-gallon chemical tanks
  • 2 25-gallon chemical tanks
  • 4 hose reels for chemical distribution
  • Anti-freeze system
  • Large double storage box on the rear of the trailer with locking latches
  • Locking storage box under the machine area with lift doors on both sides
  • Double lockable covered chemical box up front
  • 12-volt electrical system - taillights, running lights, and license plate
  • Powder coated for durable finish

With these three units we conclude our article series on mobile cleaning solutions. When it comes to mobile systems we truly feel our design, engineering, and fabrication capabilities are the best in the industry and hopefully after reading these articles you would agree. We have a fantastic offering of standard mobile solutions and can custom engineer a system to meet almost any need.

Thank you for taking the time to read this article series and if you have questions on any of the mobile solutions presented please contact your local distributor or call the Alkota Cleaning Systems, Inc. corporate office at 1-800-255-6823 and ask for Denene Haynie or Jeff Burros.
